Thar Education Alliance, with the support of the Reform Support Unit (RSU) and UNICEF, has launched the project "Children Parliament – Right to Education" across Sindh. This innovative initiative aims to amplify the voices of young learners and promote child-led advocacy for quality and inclusive education. A total of 64 students, aged between 12 to 17 years, have been selected from all 30 districts of Sindh, with two students representing each district—except for Sujawal, where six students were chosen in recognition of the district’s low literacy rate. The selection process emphasized inclusive representation, ensuring gender equity, and diversity in terms of urban, rural, and metropolitan backgrounds, as well as including children with special needs and those from minority communities. Priority was also given to students demonstrating strong leadership potential, including those who are talented, confident, and passionate about driving change in their communities. During the initial orientation and launch, participants expressed enthusiastic support, pledging full cooperation and lauding the initiative’s potential to bring transformative change to Sindh’s education landscape.
District Level Assembly Sessions
Three district-level Children Parliament sessions were held in Mithi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur, where members from various districts of Sindh participated. During the sessions, children discussed the educational challenges faced in their respective districts, including issues related to infrastructure, teacher availability, access to schools, and learning resources. They also shared suggestions to improve the quality of education and emphasized the importance of child participation in decision-making.
